the idea of this thread is to help members who have any questions related to cb installation or use , there are many members on here who will be only too happy to help , dont be afraid to ask .

incidently , i dont profess to be a expert , but have been using cb for over 30 years , and was a electronic field service engineer .

A funny thing happened to me today on CB:D
I was on channel 15 with my mate Adz doing a bit of off roading and I was getting clear as day chinwag from some guy in the Arctic? What's that all about?
Anyway he was in spot of bother with his coax:augie
Adz only a cars width apart had no such contact.
Was I dreaming Briggie or have I been with the aliens:cool:

lol , there is quite a lot of sunspot activity which intensifies propogation , where you on different make radios ? as all radios have different channel rejection ratios ... or perhaps it was the beer the night before ? :augie ... are you sure he was in the artic as some idiots are about on cb .... did you get a call sign with a prefix ? .... most dx contacts are on ssb ... 27.555 usb or channel 12 high band if you dont have a frequency readout .. very very rare to have a dx contact on uk fm ...... thats assuming you where on uk fm :augie

hope this helps

pete

Yep diff radios and I've got a bigger aerial.
I'm not 100% sure he was Artic but was doing call sign stuff and severe snow warnings and had a prob with his equipment.
So I've been aliened then, hoorah for sunspots:D

still a bit strange doing dx on uk fm though :sly

Whats all this sun spot activity stuff and why, also is there an eclipse due?

that is a question better answered by a radio ham such as jims terrano or hunter 666 , its a very technical subject and quite complicated , beyond the normal boundaries of cb knowledge unless you plan to dx ( distance transmission )
