iv done a quick search and its come up with nothing even on patrol4x4.com

iv got a y61 2.8 stright 6 turbo diesel

theres oil getting into my inlet (loads of it) that bad its like a smoke screen out the back,

iv checked the turbo and thats not leaking or blow seals but theres puddles of oil in the inlet system, and the intercooler is full,

im wondering if an oil catch tank would clear this up?
and idea on where to fit on?

iv looked on my computer and still not help :(

I started a thread up about my T2 being a bit smokey & I had found oil in the intercooler  traced it down to the nissan oil catch tank being faulty, so I fitted another one & it seams to have stopped. I can send you a few photo's of the set up I have if it'll help  I got the catch tank off ebay

problem is iv got the stright 6 engine, and its all diff to the T2

I would think you may have a breather pipe going into the induction pipe before the turbo, if you do trace it back to see if it go's to a black plastic cylinder (is on T2) then trace the pipes from this 1 should go to the sump & another 1 to the rocker cover. If this is the case then you'll need to block off the hole into the induction pipe & feed the pipe to the new catch tank

aha so in theroy replace the black plastic thingy (what is it) with a catch tank?

iv uploaded some photos (yes i know my cam seal is leaking lol)

you can see the amount of oil around in the induction pipes,

is this the black thhing i need to get rid off :?:

From the pic it looks like it, on mine there is a pipe at the bottom that go's to the sump, one at the top that go's to the induction pipe & the 3rd is fed via an alloy housing from the rocker cover

yeah the pipe that comes from that runs to the inlet side of the turbo, if pulled that off and vented to atmospher at the moment, and the amount of smoke that comes out of that is so untrue :(

iv got the y61 manuel of ebay for the patrol but can not find that part in there, where abouts should i be looking ?

The smoke is hot oil gas/vapour  when my engine is cold you don't notice it but when it gets up to temp you can see it coming out of the filter I fitted which does get chocked up with oil after awhile but a blast from the jet wash sharp cleans it untill the next time
If your looking for the catch tank (nissan's) I would think it'll come under engine or crankcase breathing system :? I priced one up from nissan & they wanted around £200 for a new one 8O 8O 8O hence I fitted my own

That looks like it but i'm sure somone else will be able to confirm it  surprized there is'nt a pipe back to the sump :? Anyway the valve I would think has passed it's best & letting the oil into the induction side instead of just the gas/vapour
