heard a noise I was familiar with this morning on the way to work.
Water going through the heater matrix. Bum.
and found the water pump had give up the ghost.
good news is my mate has got time for me in the next few days to do the water pump, auxilary belts, drop links, anti roll bar bushes and body lift as well as a few other bits:clap yippee I can get my wheels then...
my cb is also on the way, Its all coming together at once:D

yippee cb radio fitted and working.Ive never used one before though and need to go cb school as I dont know how to use it :augie.
I dont know wether to use am or fm or if theres any particular channel I should be on.
the only thing ive managed to pick up so far is a couple of germans :nenau
its one of them jobbies with a stash away box and all the controls on the handset.
that will take some figuring out too.
and what is squelch?

squelch is so you don't hear the "CHHHHHH" noise all the time, set it so you don't hear it, so when someone talks it will 'open' the radio audio and you will hear the person talking and it will go silent again.

All UK CB like the truckers, farmers, 4x4ers use FM. What CB did you get in the end?

Briggie is also your man for advice regarding CB, he's very experienced with CB:thumbs

ended up getting the polamar venus with auxillary speaker for 101 quid.
I chose this one as the front of the terrano is very short on cubby holes as it is.
So I srewed it to the floor under the drivers seat and used the power supply from the multi changer that i binned. I then ran the extention cable around the center consol to leave just a small plug socket on show. So its easy to remove handset from show.
I think the handset is tricky to use as most of the buttons are multi function.but that will come with practice.
got to learn a bit of the lingo now roger that.
first time ive every been on a cb Ive got to think of a handle now lol..

you should be able to switch to UK band and EU band. Most people in the UK will be on the UK band.

Make no difference to me, I have Tinnitus so have the CHHHHHHHHH all the time anyway, Rick

people don't really use lingo on cb these days , not many people use it tbh , but ideal for green laning

im guessing you know how to check your swr before attempting to transmit

:confused::confused: I did come across this on a prevoius thread but didnt really take it in at the time.
to be honest I was so exited about my new toy that I wired it up to a battery just to test it.
I then read that you shouldnt press the ptt button without an antenna fitted.and I had to do a reset so I have a lot to learn.

Don't worry all the newer CB radios will protect the radio from damage if the swr is too high or antenna not connected by reducing the power.
