I was brought up in the country surrounded by single track lanes. Tractors were a part of life. The upside was that the farmers knew the locals and pulled over when they could.Where we live we are in the country, and most roads leading to the village are country lanes, we know there will be tractors and horses around the next corner, and drive accordingly, it's these #€*#$¥* townies using our lanes as rat runs that cause the problems.
Horses get a lot of courtesy from me, if I'm on the bike I'll shout up and warn them that a bike is coming. In the car I give them a wide berth and pass slowly. We find the women riders quite courteous,
I couldn't give a crap about the riders, I don't want to scare the horses and get a hoof in either the face or a wing. If a horse (or rider) is nervous it shouldn't be on the road.
Horse crap is different from dog crap in that it isn't dangerous to humans (toxocariasis). With you on the horse poo sentiment! I've often wondered why they don't have to shovel it up afterwards (the riders, not the actual beasts themselves, obviously) as dog owners do.
