Weve decided to go for a new caravan.

Problem is most of the fixed beds in tourers are only 6ft long. As Im 6ft2 theyre a bit of a non starter.

Anyone using or know of any make that has longer beds?

I've spent years advising on caravan ergonomics :lol
I reckon I'll have them down to 5ft soon enough :wasntme

dont caravans come with proper beds nowadays free standing double beds in a proper bedroom . some even have ensuite showers . but i suspect your feet will still stick out the end of the bed .

but i have a couple of odd socks under my bed:eek: , id be happy to post ya. save feet getting cold :nenau

Its an option. Better still theres a new style of van out from the 5th wheel company. Out of our price range at the mo but looks superb. I will be giving them a ring just to check what is available and if theyre willing to negotiate.

Ah you can afford it on your wages mate :thumbs

But seriously, it would be cheaper to get a cheaper van and pay someone to refit it surely. I mean I know its not cheap but you get what you want. A bloke on the Z4 site spent £20k having his VW Transporter converted - I thought he was bonkers but he ended up with a beautiful camper designed to his personal spec, really nice.

Or get an airstream. Now thats a proper caravan.:thumb2

Get a proper 8ft wide travellers trailer and enjoy a proper sized bed! My Buccaneer bed is over 7 feet long :thumb2

i cant remember of the top of my head, but there is a company that refit caravans for disabled..

will have a search..

Do people over 6ft really need to sleep in a poker straight position? Used to hang around with a bloke that was about 6ft 2 or 3 and standard size beds worked fine for him, and that was a single bed. Can't see two inches less being a problem, just sleep at a slight angle, job done. Think you're fussing over nothing Dave. What I think may be more important is duvet length and as you can get these in King Size, tootsies stay nice and cosy.

I agree with you about poker straight :thumb2 but the problem is most are not generous on the width either so when youre comfortably sprawled or diagonal youve got more than 50% without trying :nenau
Dont forget the 6ft overall usually has a wall at each end so by the time your pillows on there our current one is 6ft2 which is why we got it. My feet bang off the end into the wall. I couldnt understand at first so out came the tape measure, realistic usable bed length is under 5ft10 :D

Tbh im not that arsed but when we're shelling out I want to be comfy :D

cheers :thumb2

Just been on their site, possibly a bit blingy for me and I guess their main market are travellers? do they do wet vans too?

They do wet vans now, and can do pretty much anything you want inside, worth considering if you have the money and the inclination it would be a head turner, made in England, and hold it's value well :thumb2
