Hi all,
After my short lived joy of a clean maf i now have a motor that won't work  .
fitted new batt 96ah, checked terminals and conns to batt all seem aok, losened off aircon belt and alt belt to ease turn over (many straws been clutched at) disc'd fat wire off alt, unplugged glow plugs in a desparate bid to turn it over and spark it into life.
It cranks for apx 3 secs (3/4 chugger chuggers!) but no va va voom or chug chug boom! before the life is sucked from batts.

Had it connected to car batt with no joy (same 3/4 chuggs)

Going outside to smash it up now so quick responses pls

I'll let ya know if any joy or if i get to go to work quicker tom (the car)

Ta in Advance one dejected Ryan

I've noticed mine also takes a good few turns to 1st start then it's ok till been left for a while then same again, something else to add to the list of jobs to look at

How does it go again Ryan

Seriously though I had a similar fault.

It would turn as per normal then start running rough very rough for a few seconds and then cut out. When I tried the key again nothing, not a thing. Then after a few minutes she would crank and all was well again. It turned out to be the ignition switch which is fastened to the bottom of the steering lock. My wife used to get it and all it did was clunk from the starter. I have heard of people been able to start it by turning the key very slowly.

Jim

jim i do remeber it was you that touched the engine bay last and since then trouble, so the bills will be going you!

just took starter motor off with no instructions hence my next post been labelled 'how to remove starter motor' was going to strip it clean it etc hoping this would sort probs as you know how grimey it was down there, finally got it off at 10pm whilst it was off the source of my oil leak became very very clear, only the dip stick tube is in two halves (thought it was difficult to check) nededless to say it'll have to wait tom to strip and check it.

PS you done your maf yet jim? actually i'll do it don't want you Jonah Jimin it
