My car is currently SORN. it is insured and has MOT but no tax.
I need to drive it for about 5 hours from either Dover or Portsmouth to my mates garage in North Wales. Where he will sell it. What are my options over Tax
Tax it for six months for the sake of 5 hours and claim 5 months back?

Cost of tax depends on the year. Get yourself on the dvla web site, should be a way of finding the cost for your truck on there. Think mines about £20 a month if I remember right. Not worth the risk of driving it as the cameras are everywhere and don't forget your insurance will be void.

Far easier and more to the point should something happen you are covered so needs taxing.

Only takes a few minutes to sort it out on line.
Set up direct debit payment and your covered straight away :thumb2

You can pay either by direct debit card, or credit card as a single payment.

The fact is, as soon as ownership changes hands, with the new road tax system, you could end up with two people paying for the same month anyway, as the seller has to cash in the road tax, for any full months remaining, and a new buyer has to buy new road tax from the first of the month of the sale.

So the Government win both ways.:doh
