When I was down at Ricks, he was showing me the poor design of the timing chain tensioner, and he had one that had broken in a very low mileage after fitting, basically there is a plastic slide that gets ripped off, then the slap from the chain hits the side of the cover, and can wear a hole in it, so it will need doing fairly quickly.

I would send Rick a PM, as he is, as already said very knowledgeable on the Petrol engine, and had one or two in bits in his garage while I was down there.

il pm rick and ask, as i need a car and it sorted asap and the way its looking might have to sell and replace.

Listening back to that it could be the timing chain as its quite a slow knock, going at the speed of the crank not the cams...

Still don't know how the belt change would have caused it tho

ive no idea, its left me puzzled, but before the belts, the engine was super quiet, at idle you didnt even know it was on.

cheers, it originated back in the day when i played cards lol, i did get ribbed when bought terrano and not maverick!

this is crazy...they HAVE to have done something!!!! Sorry, this sort of thing doesn't just happen, and I cant see how changing aux belts would affect the timing chain...!!

well, i know for a fact the day previous it didnt exist...because if it had i would never have heard the belt noise.
