Can't get it in .................. Gear :lol Lost all clutch action today and had a rather interesting trip home:eek: Had to switch it off engage gear and start it in first  Then crash box home:rolleyes:
Any way, is it most likely to be slave cylinder or master? Any top tips to find out ?
Cheers oh learned ones :thumb2

Might be neither, check the clutch fluid level, if low then search for leaks around the master and the slave, but also on the damper pipe, that ends near your rear axle.

Fluid level has not moved, still full :thumbs Damper pipe not there, it got binned even before I got the truck
No leaks visible !

Could be the flexi pipe, you need to get an assistant to press the clutch pedal down, whilst you see what moves and what doesn't.

Ah, I seem to recall someone else having that prob. So does the pipe sort of swell up like a comedy tyre :lol

yes that s what happened to mine.fitted new clutch kit then slave cylinder then as we were bleeding mechanic noticed flexi pipe swelling up.new pipe then sorted. 3 months later master cylinder went.oh and bugger me clutch slip now me thinks dodgy slave cylinder. come back land rover alls forgiven

Sounds like you've been affected :lol
My very good friend Stuart drives a huge landie 110 pickup with shed on the back. We call it thunderbird 2 :D
Anyroad up he's always, everyday, without fail, spannering with it :thumbs
It's his way of life, or did he say wife :lol

Mine didn't slip either, it just went. Oh what fun that was but thanks to some crackin guys on here got it sorted without too much hassle.

One minute it did and then next it dint. To be fair there was a noise after it had gone with or without the pedal being pressed. The usual story of the plate ripping apart. Happened twice but 8 years between the two times.

well first off lay under and look at the slave cylinder while another pushes the clutch pedal, (preferably female with a skirt) and see if the slave moves about 25 mm if it does then new clutch, if not new master cyl, and you wasant looking at anything else was you, Rick

Rick you old dog :sly I like your style :thumbs
I'll think of a suitable victim, er I mean helper in the morning

I'm sure something will move at least 25mm, sounds like a plan....:naughty

But also check your flexible hose, as this might be expanding too....:naughty

ARSE, the slave cylinder and hose seem fine as it's moving easily with the clutch pedal :(
So can someone explain what else it could be? I've got drive as I had before just cant engage a gear. So could the arm the slave cylinder moves be broken perhaps? :nenau

...or something busted so that the plate is permanently engaged? Clutching at straws here mate....:(
