Trying to find an oil and filter change guide, gonna do it myself tomorrow at work and I'm expecting to make a mess. I'm sure someone on here recently had a good method of wheel off or something?

Ta my dears :kissy

im not sure there is a guide.

Jack up passenger side, (remove wheel) remove arch liner and there it is! use plenty of cloths etc because a lot of oil will leak out when you remove the filter.

Other than that its just easy, drain plug is where you expect it to be. Fuel filter is so easy it doesn't deserve a guide! Again, use cloths to catch any diesel from the pipes when you disconnect them.

Thanks guys, this picture is taken from passenger side right?

yep, take the filter off then get underneath and take the sump plug out, make sure the engine is warm first and wear some gloves and dont forget to replace the sump plug washer with a new one

Eh? Surely plug first?

nope, helps with the air coming through so the oil can come out the sump, also make sure you remove the filler cap off the top of the engine

I drop the oil first then attack the lovely filter:dohTBH i've always removed the filter from the top of the engine bay but place an old t-shirt over the front diff to help soak up the oil that pours out of the filter. Once done get the pressure washer out & blast the front diff from the top & bottom to remove any spilt oil :thumbs

Cheers dude, can the filter be attacked from underneath? Might be easier with the ramps we have at work?

No the front diff is in your way you've got to go in via the wheel arch or from under the bonnet

The order i do it in

1.remove filler cap
2.remove sump plug
3.remove filter ( via the wing )
4.remove dip stick & wipe clean
5.put dipstick back
6.put new filter in
7.put sump plug back in
8.pour in 5 ltrs of oil
9.start up, leave running for a few mins, then turn off
10.check the dipstick

Way way way easier through the wheel arch matey, if you are flexiblish, it can even be done on full lock without removing the wheel :sly

The strap type wrenches are the best for this job and they are best removed with the engine warmish

yea i think it holds a shade under 6 ltrs but i havent done mine in nearly a year :augie :lol

It holds around 7 litres but always put in just over 6 litres start it up then check the oil & then add what ever is needed

Lol don't think I'm very flexible :lol wheel off it is.

IF all else fails ram a screw driver through it and turn.
