Had 4wd,so almost all of my driving years.first ever car was an sj410,had that for 3 years then moved to swb shogun that dropped to bits
Had a couple of normal cars but got bored and swapped my Renault estate for a terrano and have 4 since then

Well this is my 1st 4x4 and I love it!!!!!

I seriosuly don't think I could be without it and could never see myself having a different 4x4 except a Defender 90, I just worry that by the time I need another one because mine has bit the bullet that there wont be any left :nenau :( :bow

:naughtyand you base that solely on looks right banshee?

Still you are right, it would do a great job of sitting in your driveway :lol

I did make the broke joke, was just a bit subtle with the old driveway joke :augie

Yeah most of the peeps I used to go out with have got sensible family cars:lol
Did it myself for a year or so but missed my terrano too much so got another one :thumb2

Had to do the same & get a family motor well if you can call an Astra Coupe a family motor:lol:lol loved the performance but missed my old Terrano like mad so just had to get another one:thumb2

Semi similar story here, had a swb fronty after my skoda and mr2 sold that and bought a honda accord estate 2.2 rapid but i sure did miss the offroad scene. Couldn't even mount a pavement without being in complete fear :lol

Did a lot of research as to what 4x4 to get, I looked at shoguns, patrols, pajs, land cruisers, urm... Lwb frontys, in the end after reading a lot of forums ect the frontera popped up, hold on a sec... No cam chain!!!! No dual mass flywheel!!! Where do I sign :lol

This was after my horror of replacing a cam chain on my honda....

Nearly bought the huge new nissan thing.... Racking my brain cant remember what it's called.... Nearly forked out 11k...

Edit: pathfinder that's it!!

I really like pathfinders & hopefully that'll be my next motor:D but the 2.5L lump will be coming out & my Terrano engine will go in them i'll have the best of both worlds:thumbs

Is it a straight swap or is there a lot of messing around ??

Alex, I decided to go round and check I can get all of my bolts undone, before I start the body lift on mine. I already knew the rear o/s one was seized, so I drilled a small hole in the side of the mounting block, so I could get to where the captive nut is, and sprayed it with loads (and I do mean loads) of the Cheap Lidl's rust dissolving penetrating oil.

I did this about a week ago, and when I went out and tried it today, it undid nice and easily. I tried the rest of the bolts, and the middle ones are also solid, and feel like they might shear, so today, I have taken the front seats out, lifted the carpet, and drilled a hole over the location of the middle bolts, where the captive nuts are, and again, filled it with Lidl's stuff. I will leave it a few days, and try again.

I think it may be worth you doing the same, that way, when it does come to time to do the lift, it will be a lot easier, and mean there is far less chance of something going wrong on the day, and leaving you stuck without a car.

drilled a hole for the middle ones  why didn't you just remove the plastic cap

From what i've been told you just fit an injector pump off the older TD & add a throttle cable then you don't have to worry about swapping over ECU's etc then it's just the plumbing to sort out:augie

On the Long Wheel base, there isn't a plastic cap on the middle ones, they are in a chamber just behind the rear mounting of the drivers seat.

Going front to back,
the very front mounts, are bolts that face down, head on the top, nut at the bottom and easy
Next ones back are just behind the front wheel arch, head on top, nut at bottom, and plastic cap acts as a captive nut for the bolt head.
The middle ones are just behind the rear, Front seat mounts, and bolt up from underneath into captive nuts. there is no easy way in from the top.
Next ones back are under the rear seat, again go down from inside car, with nut on the bottom, and have the plastic cap to hold the head still.
The very rear ones are like the middle, and bolt up into captive nuts, under the rear light cluster, again in a sealed chamber with no easy way to get to the nuts there either.
