A 2 ft level with some bits of metal tac welded to it at exactly the same length ?

what about this one ? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Wheel-Cam...UK_Measuring_Tools_Levels&hash=item53e8f697ff and I have looked on the manual and I have found the section fa39 on the wheel alignment. but can anyone put in to old English what it means and how to check it . as I think my drives wheels camber is out as I have a lot of inside tyre wear . I have had my tracking checked and that's fine . when I got it on full lock and driving slow in 1st or reverse it is very notchy on the steering. I can feel something going on with that side . I have had it into the garage and he can't find nothing wrong with the bushes and knuckles. but he can't check the camber . I have phoned a lot of garages and none can do camber . I have even booked it in to ats because online they say they do camber for £50 booked it just to call them to check and them saying no they don't do camber it just the tracking really . how do you check it and adjust it

Your notchyness will be the universal joint on the steering column (behind the drivers side wheel), mine does this if my Ter is parked up for a few weeks. Get some WD40 or thin oil would be better and that will help.

its not while I'm turning steering wheel . its only when the car is moving after I have turned the steering wheel . I can feel it coming from the drivers wheel side from the floor and steering wheel . my mate thought It might be the uj on the propshaft but we checked and they are fine . we changed all the track rods and upper and lower ball joints . plus the arb bushes and links . checked the wheel bearings . I have just run out of idea's what would be causing it . it could be the bushes on the upper link arm or the camber? the lower arm is fine . I checked all bushes when I done the arb bushes

Sounds like you have given it a good going over then, I'm not sure what to suggest.

could it be the cv joint ?. surely their would be some movement in the wheel if it was worn and it wouldn't wear just one side of the tyre . the reason I think its the drivers side camber is because the inside 2 inches of the trye is slick just about see the string in the tyre and the other side has about 3mm tread left

I was just reading another thread where a member had been supplied the wrong bottom ball joint - in his case the joint was too short causing huge positive camber. Therefore there must be a long and a short bottom ball joint and maybe the long one fitted where a short one should be would give lots of negative camber.

Maybe worth investigating further?

that might of been me when I went to change them eurocarparts gave me the wrong ones . which made the car have a huge positive camber and dangerous to drive . but I got the right ones in the end

If it was a worn CV,i would have thought you would have heard it.Mine was noisy when reversing.

Regarding caster/camber and toe, on both front and rears, on just about any car, I work in Harrogate at the dreaded KwikFit. We have a Hunter wheel digital wheel aligner. It really is the dogs Bollocks! Not all the KwikFits have them, but it may be worthwhile asking the question.

I work in the Harrogate branch, if anyone fancies popping in, ask for Dan, and I'll sort you out.

PS: any centre with the hunter, the check is free....... :)
