Bumper and wheel arche mouldings

Hi, my plastic moldings on my maverick bumpers and arches have faded, just wondering if any one has any ideas to what is the best paint to spray them with? Also how do i remove the bumpers and arches so i can do this, many thanks, Jim.

are tehy black or painted.
if black... search on here for peanut butter / danish oil...

The arches are like a grey rubbery material and the bumpers are plastic and faded grey.

right oh. linseed oil or peanutbutter will bring them back to black.

and if you use peanut butter you have the added bonus of laughing at small children licking your bumper


This peanut butter stuff is complete bollocks, I tried it and my cynicism was well justified. All youre doing is spreading an oily/greasy substance that coats the plastic and makes it look good. Danish oil lasts a bit longer because its more sticky and clings better to the plastic. Anything with a grease or oil base will look good to start with.

However an aerosol of back to black type stuff from morrisons lasts even longer , costs about the same as peanut butter, less than Danish oil and sprays on no mess

I tried out all three on a grey bumper last time and at first all ok, but all wore off at different rates.

As part of the experiment I also used a bit of cant believe its not car polish but then one of our cats was fooled by the buttery taste and kept licking it.




The best I've found and used it for tarting up old cars because its so effective even at the priceand lasts is the autoglym bumper cleaner protector.

I think Chaz's idea is best. ive looked into stuff like that before, and as far as i can see, thats the way to go BUT you have to clean the bumpers really good. only other option is bumper spray paint...

im hoping to do mine just as soon as all mechanical issues are paid for, be very interesting to see what results we can come up with...
