Bugger I,ve broke down

:doh Yep late this afternoon.Just got into Sheffield and slowed to let the car in front turn left into an icy road, when I set off again and changed from first to second there was a clunk like it had jumped out of gear. That was it, no drive. I selected 4 wheel drive, but nothing also low and back to two wheel drive. There were no unusual noises and gear selection was OK,but no drive. Green Flag came had a play and said wonder if its the clutch, Who knows, not me :nenau Any how taken to my local garage and await the outcome, they are going to look tomorrow. The mech. I spoke to who has a land pig himself said it could be a drive shaft, that's it. Any body got any idea's?

gear selector ...... cant be drive shaft .... did you have any burning type smells ?

No funny smells, no unusual noises, engine ticked over and revved OK, gear selection seems normal, just no drive. Yes I've got a feeling its going to hurt.

can you get it in gear when engine is running??

You can move the gear stick into all gears and lift the clutch nothing happens.

what happens if you select a gear then try to start the car with the clutch up , does it lurch forward ?

The car starts as normal, infact everything seems to do and sound like it should, except there is no drive.

make sure your lo/hi lever is not in its neutral position. Could be the transfer box chain broken I suppose although I have never heard of trouble with that. regards bri
