The wiper arm is attached to the drive shaft via a tapered splined shaft, held in place with a nut.
To remove the arm, slacken off the nut so it is still on the last few threads,
(saves it jumping off and scratching your bonnet.)
You need to pull the arm off the shaft, I tried various methods, but I made a removal tool out of a piece of scrap metal and some 8 mm all thread and a couple of nuts.
Bosically it's a G clamp, where the bottom is wide with a cut out for the shaft, and the screw part pushes on the shaft. 10 minutes to make, 5 seconds to remove the arm.
Hope this helps.

I nearly broke my nose once, I was removing the steering wheel on an Ambassador to replace the top plastic bearing sleeve, I took the centre nut off and then started to hit the wheel from the back to release it......:doh :doh
Yep..... wheel hit me straight in the face :doh
Now I always leave the nut partially on to catch it. :thumbs
