Broken spring

Been back in Spain since mid December and have noticed some odd lurching behaviour from the left rear of the car on right hand bends - decided to have a look in it's nether regions and found nothing wrong on the left, but on the right the rear spring has snapped one turn down from the top!

Don't have the facilities (or the inclination) to do it myself so it's in to the local garage, a pair of Spanish brothers who are very good and reasonably priced, even so, I feel a 100€ bill coming on to replace both springs

However , if your inclination changes, it's an easy job to do. You'll just need a jack and some axle stands. Socket set and tea.

I'm chucking a set of LWB springs on mine this week to give me a bit of extra height, you can have my SWB for free if you want them, just pay for postage and they are yours :thumb2

I'll even take some pics and do a workshop download with loads of pics so you know what you're doing :thumb2

OK mate

Why don't you put a set of LWB Terrano springs on and weind the torsion bar up at the front, 2" lift using OEM parts thus not failing MOT?

If you want I can get you a set of LWB's from james?

Would I need to replace front springs as well, in that case? And the front/rear shocks?

Front is sagging a bit now, so I'll have to re-index anyway. As shock absorbers at the back are due for replacement, I thought to change the springs at the same time. Front shock absorbers and springs are still OK (and for more recently installed, judging from the amount of rust)

Thanks for the offer Banshee and the advice Makeitfit, but the cost to send them to Spain would hardly make it worthwhile, plus having had recent surgery on my back I'm incapable of lying under a car for the next few months!

Front just has the torsion bars, you just move them round a spline or two and make final adjustments with the bolt adjusters.
