Driving along mav cut out . No dash lights but cranking but not firing up. Jet washed engine bay earlier with engine running and drove for several miles. Brake down guy checked all fuses and sprayed all connectors. Nothing . Waiting for big truck now. Supposed to be away for weekend laning in Cambridge.

Any thoughts

TDi = pull all engine bay connectors and check for corrosion etc, looks like water got in some place, Rick

I concur, also the jet wash could well have slightly dislodged something.Check check and re check.Hope its a quick fix:thumbs

Disagree, your nissan connections are all ace and water proof. You may get corrosion on the odd spade connector but TDi is pretty sorted.
Go check the big main fuse thing
I presume the ignition switch is good ?

Well switch has been good up to now. Waiting for truck. Try another key when home incase dropped code ???

Ok checked all fuses again . Have swapped big fuses with same size to check and still nothing. Cranks but not firing no dash lights or windows. Have cleaned every multiplug I can find . All I can think is immobiliser has cut in but how do I reset ? Leaving battery off overnight rings a bell , anyone know.

Camping and greenlanes cancelled not a happy bunny.

"no dash lights or windows" I would say ignition switch would cause that.I had one that would run but wouldnt rev up and at same time wipers didnt work and had no dash lights

Thanks have checked wiring but keys are getting worn so will check again.

yes sounds like switch, if you can understand the wiring diagram you could try unplugging the connector and hard wiring it to test before buying a new switch, you only need the electrical part, if it was the immobiliser that would not stop the windows working or the dash lights, Rick

Rick im guessing switch is best go to main dealer rather than copy or used. Keys are both very worn so barrel / matching key might be best anyway.

you can just replace the electrical part two hard to get to fiddly screws and a plug, about £30 to £40 from Nissan but if you want to do the whole switch be careful, do not know how many keys come with a switch but all will need programming, better bet is if the keys have the same style of red chip as yours just swap the chips, but I have seen several different styles, you could of course suppa glue old chip to new key if it will not fit in the recess but remove the new chip first as it will be read as a wrong key, 3 times and you will be looked out for good till it is cleared with specialist kit, Rick
