time to get the sledge out i hope temp drops at end of week still wearing shorts might have to dig a jumper out:nenau

going down brum then, Hopefully I have the new tyres on or we will be taking a hire car. :doh

you'll be allright in the Terrano whatever tyres you have on Fez

The Mav/Terrano is great in 4 wheel drive, but if used in normal 2 wheel drive on icy roads can take you by surprise on roundabouts.

This is because of the Limited Slip Diff, even with new oil, the back end will kick out as the diff doesn't slip on low grip surfaces, so on tight turns one of the wheels slips, it has to, so you can loose traction, the first time you will find out the hard way.. Can be fun, but make sure you have the room to slide sideways, and these trucks are a bit top heavy
Take care.. keep off the throttle coming out of bends as well, same problem on ice.

Remember you may have the grip to burn off all those BMW's at the lights :lol
BUT you won't stop any quicker than a car.:doh

All RWD drive cars can easily catch you out. A minute amount extra right foot can easily kick that back end out slip diff or not :thumb2

Fun when you want it, horrendous when you dont :D

At the end of the day drive to the weather conditions:thumb2 but it does help to have a reasonable amount of tread on the rubber.

Drive safely guys.

Pete, if it snows are we off up to see Clivvy. If we get 6 inch of the white stuff he'll have 6 foot drifts up there:clap

My vitara used to kick out like a horse all the time. Like you said not fun when you don't want to. Luckily I didn't panic and rode the beast into control. :lol :naughty

Maybe.... but when it snows its the other tw*ts not driving according to the conditions rear ending you that you need to worry about!!! :augie

I just got me my second Terrano, for work, as my Xantia is too low to get in and out of easily and for anyone who knows where I live will know that in snow I am stuck, and the other half moans if I nick her Terrano and load it with tools, so I got my own, so I got a cheap reliable Xantia estate going i anyone interested, oh and the other thing I cant do with the Xantia is hand brake turns, the hand brake is on the front wheels lol, Rick

I AGREE!!!! :thumb2

The one thing my Mav really was good at is embarrassing other 4x4 drivers in the snow! Even with road tyres on!
And that LSD really makes for fun cornering :clap

My G.C has a LSD too but I cant see it being as fun in a permenent 4x4 motor :(

Not sure exactly what set up you have on yours but its most likely youve got rear wheel drive most of the time. If its the quadra track itll bring in the front wheel or wheels and cut out rear wheel or wheels as it sees fit! anything from one wheel drive to full four.

Very reliable to date on mine but boringly efficient :D its the first car ive ever had thats brought itself back into line during a minor slide on a roundabout. Quite unnerving the first time
