how effective are everyones brakes cause mines like the titanic to stop!!

I have allways found them pretty good, maybe the sliders on your callipers need cleaning and re greasing?

use gearbox aswell i go mad at some lads coasting into islands an that in top then trying to drive out in top

think few have upgraded brakes and pads to rossini i believe name was as they tow caravan so extra weight to stop

When was the last time the brake fluid was replaced and the system bled, and
also when was the last time you had the pads and rotors checked?

This could be part of your problem if they are taking to long to pull you up.

sounds silly but places like ATS and quick fit often do free brake checks why not go along and let them get their hands dirty and see what they have to say? you dont have to get them to fix anyhting!

Also check your load proportioning valve hasn't siezed, if it has you may be getting no braking to the rear.

I found mine much better after adjusting the rear brakes. A lot less effort to stop. Most people forget about the rear brakes as they have self adjuster, but the thing doesn't work  Another thing to check is rear diff seal.

I agree, adjust the rear brakes to the limit after first sevicing them, ie remove all dust, use a brake cleaner as well, and wear a mask...check for fluid leaks, both oil from seals and brake fluid. Adjust the shoes using the mechanical adjusters, then fit the drums and apply brakes and readjust etc several times, then adjust the handbrake cable, there is a download on this.
To test if this is going to be effective, check how many clicks you need to put the hand brake on, got mine down to 4 or 5 and they don't rub.
If you have 6 or 7 try putting the hand brake on a click or two, then try the brakes several times you will notice an improvement.
Make sure the brakes are not binding and don't do it for long, just in case they are.
Final adjustment should be with a pair of axle stands under rear axle and check by hand. (note you have a Limited Slip Diff so both wheels will turn in same direction, unlike a car.. )
I also fitted Rossinni discs, later vehicles have ABS with larger discs I think...
Hope this helps, best regards, Rustic
