I had a similar problem with the abs kicking in like you say under very gentle braking.
Mine turned out to be a cracked ABS ring on the front passenger side.
I wasn't getting an abs fault light come up on the dash so it took a while to find the cause.

Elty, how do you get to the ring to check it?

Have to take the brake disc off to get at it.
I thought it was the usual wiring fault but after I replaced the wires it was still the same so I stripped the lot down to give it a good inspection.
Nissan wanted a small fortune for the ring so I shopped around and found a company in Lincolnshire,that I can't for the life of me remember what they are called that supply them.
