brake seals

hi any body know ware i could get a new set of front brake caliper seals from for my old d21 pick up as changed pads today and noticed a damp piston and brake fluid seaping out

looked on fleabay but could not see any on their also is it a sod to replace them?

no body ever replaced the brake seals on the front caliper?:nenau mine on the d21 looks the same as on the terrano single piston type! dont fancy taking it a part if its a sod to put back together.

If you've got a leak anyway, you might aswell just take the piston out and have a spy. I guess it's the same as most and just has a fancy rubber gasket/washer round the piston. You might find the bore is knackered though and causing the leak:augie

Shouldn’t be any different to any other calliper to reseal, the downside normally is that the cylinder and or the piston become corroded and pitted, these can be honed or if not to bad cleaned up with some fine abrasive paper. One thing I will point out, never use any mineral oil based product such as engine oil or even wd40 type freeing agent for cleaning or lubricating, as these will ruin the seals completely, always use brake fluid to lubricate and clean.

true it may not be a hard job, true the bore could be nackered!!!! trouble is i use the truck every day and cant afford for it too be stood on axle stands for days it may be werth my while buying a whole unit not just the seals!!! i dont mind getting playing with most things on my trucks but really dont like playing around with brakes!!! dont want to go up some one ass ( unless they are blond and have big tits:sly)

thanks for all your help:thumb the brake calipers on ebay wrong 1s mine are single piston.

so ordered a new caliper from a local car parts place £ 60 quid which did not think was too bad.

so what is the best way to bleed the brakes after i have fitted it? any tips
