Mine is completely pooped. Dont fancy splashing 350 of my hard earned on new one so I'm wondering if any late model 4x4's have same/similar valve that I could use

Not sure if this will help ?

Some years ago I upgraded the rear wheel cylinders on an old Cooper and changed the front discs for larger ones. When I drove the vehicle the rear wheels would lock up regularly as the balancer valve was original specification.

The old Minis did not have dual circuit brakes so I put an adjustable brake balancer on the rear circuit under the subframe and adjusted it so the rear drums did not lock. Sorted and it was only a cheap unit from Minisport.

If you have dual circuit or ABS I doubt this is an option !

Thanks. I'm sure it will be dual circuit but no abs. I would imagine that there must be similar valves on other 4x4's or vans that could be modified to work.

Some older vehicles were dual circuit F & R some diagonally split.

Y60 trolls split front to rear...
I read recently that one mod for better brakes is to remove it completely.
Im tempted but need to read a bit more yet.
Given the rear brakes are bigger and weight distribution front to back is 50 / 50 it may make sense

Despite weight distribution being 50/50 you will find most none HGV braking systems are nearer 80/20% mark for F/R. I was told many years ago that the rear brakes are only needed to stop the rear end stepping out under heavy braking. Clearly things have moved on with modern stability control, ABS etc.

Found this interesting link.http://www.sae.org/students/presentations/brakes_by_paul_s_gritt.pdf

My Troll has neither of those, so I guess we'll suck it n see :nenau

I have just ordered a y61 master cylinder and servo to see if that helps first:thumb2
