Hi All

I have a sneaky suspicion that i may need some new break discs (just waiting for the rain to do one so we can investigate!). It is dragging me all over the place when i am braking, and has that feeling when you press the brake on ice and it just judders but gives you nothing LOL.

We are also thinking sticky caliper, but to be fair i have had the car a while now and not put any brakes on it yet (and been a female, i do tend to swing on them!), so i think new discs (and probably pads whilst we are in there) will be on the cards.

Which discs do you guys all use, where from and how much? :)

I have spent a fortune on the car the past couple of months - new sills as mine were rotted through (but the garage did a mint job and they look 150% better!), new back tyres, MAF, due to tax this month and now need to stop the bloomin thing!

just replaced pads on mine i tend to use my local motor factors bulls eye prices always competative think i payed £25

cheers Andy

Hi, Since you have a MAF yours will be the Tdi not the TD.

Re calipers, it could be the slider pins on the caliper. If these sieze they cause uneven braking and uneven disc wear.

Check the thickness of the disc, as there is a legal minimum.

Disc replacement requires the locking hubs and bearings to be removed.
I did mine a while back and it can take 2-3 hours per side as long as all the bolts come out.

If you fit new discs, then you need new pads.

Hope this helps.
best regards,
Rustic.

Thank everyone! Brake pipes are been done too, so will order some discs and pads and sort the job lot I think! :)

And yes, it is a tdi! Lol:augie
