Well, for the first time in 3 years the Mistral failed the mot, not to bad two brake pipes and a wheel cylinder.

Had two pipes made up and went into the local motor factors for a wheel cylinder.

"Whats a Mistral ?" they said

A Terrano, I replied, oh yeah got one of those on the shelf, £23 paid and I'm a happy bunny.

That is until I went to fit it !! everything the same except on the end of the pistons, no slots, just flat ends.

Back to the motor factors, "oh thats nots the same" after a bit of searching they found the right part, not in stock, but can get one the next day. Ok thats not too bad, bad news is this one costs £70 + vat !!!!!!

Still job done now.

cheers

Steve

Oh dear thats not good news, One of mine sprang a leak at the weekend :doh

well I think its the cylinder but i have not had the wheel off yet to find out, was it an easy job to change?

I might get lucky because mine is a Terrano :thumbs

don't worry very easy to do, get the hub off then just two 10mm bolts on the back and the brake pipe.

cheers
Steve

and get the bits from your local motor factors; I paid £130 for a pair of cylinders, a set of rear brake shoes and a radiator cap, áll from a Jap manufacturer.

got the brake cylinder for £15 just gotta fit it now, that can be a job for tomorrow evening

Not doing the pair? One less thing to worry about the next few years?!

I am a big believer of "if it aint broke, dont fix it" i'll fix the other one if it starts leaking in the future :D

but now you have probably jinxed me and it will start leaking next week :lol:lol

LMAO! Hope not for your sake!

But I also believe in "if one sides broke, the other will soon!" :augie:lol:lol

Best to replace in pairs as the internal piston diameter varies between models.
There are at least 2 sizes used for the terrano/maverick.
