I know this one of rick's favourite venues .
A bit far for me to travel to but for anyone in the area the last pay n play will be the 8th of august before the site closes to become a landfill.

that is very bad news, as I cannot have the motor prepped for Slindon on the 26th this month, was planning on going to Boxgrove on the 9th Aug, so not going to happen now, Picadilly wood is on the 2nd but still tight to prep and also they will not allow dumper tyres, having said all of this Boxgrove at this time of year it dries out lots so not so good anyway, a sad Rick

Sorry elty missed the bit about the 8th so will deffo be going then as the last day, happier Rick

Have a good one :thumb2
Let's hope you get a bit of rain to make it nice and muddy for your last trip there .

I pray for rain but only at Boxgrove as I have some roofing jobs to do, Rick

slightly wrong then elty, as the last day is indeed the 9th Sunday, (from the horses mouth) now I just have to wonder at those that have campaigned to close this sit for 4 x 4, how they are now going to cope with trucks all week every week tipping to this new land fill, and bearing in mind it is not a hole in the ground but a fairly level site, just how much they are going to get in there, and for about a mile the narrow lane is narrow even for a T2, so this will need widening to the point that two trucks can pass, the local owners will not be best pleased I am sure, most are horsey types, horses and trucks yea right, Oh the powers that be, Rick

When I worked in industry, I talked to the managers of sand and gravel, pits, they sold the stuff off for a few £ a tonne, I asked him can you afford to do that, it's barely break even...?

Well in a few years time, we will have a big hole in the ground, then we'll start to fill it with land fill...

That's when I retire lol...

That hole in the ground is worth a fortune, they just need to keep back some clay to cap it...

but Boxgrove is not a whole in the ground it is a level site with some man made dips to make it interesting for 4 x 4, grant you there are some higher bits but the lower parts are higher than the surrounding population, Rick

Sorry rick :lol it is indeed the 9th,at least I got the right month :thumbs

It is annoying when people move to an area and then start to moan about things that happen in that area. A farmer had the environmental health people turn up because his pigs were causing offence to newly arrived yups. The EH could do nothing more than give him advise to get on with these neighbours. These new "blow ins" had bought a house that backed onto part of his farm... a part of the farm that he rarely used for animals.
That soon changed and he made sure that they now have a grand view of all his animals...smells and all :lol:lol

Don't people look over the fence when they buy a property?
We have looked at properties, one backed onto a TNT transport depot, how could anyone moving in, complain when trucks reverse at 3:00 am with their beeep beeep beeep...:doh

The people I feel sorry for, is when they compulsory purchase properties for new roads, and those just outside the boundry have to face noise and pollution, and reduced house values too.

I find it highly amusing, that these richer folks buy a house out in the sticks (whilst of course, stuffing it right up for youngster born there...) and then proceed to whinge about cocks crowing, church bells ringing, pigs and cows....smelling, etc..............:nenau
