Fuel system? Fuses? Start by checking the simplist parts. The is a fuse for the engine management that if removed/blown, will not allow the engine to fire.

hmmmm , im not sure of the ins and outs of the t2 alarm / immobilisor system , but it could be possible that by removing the battery terminals to replace the starter motor that you have inadvertently armed the immobilisor in some way as i believe that on some cars it will allow the starter to turn but not supply voltage to the fuel pump ...... hence no starting , but i could ( and probably am wrong ) :nenau

You had it running when you bump started it, so check all the wires that you have removed to clean up and look to see if a terminal may have been damaged while you were working on it.
You know it runs, so it must be something simple.

.

This is what I don't understand if I bump start it she runs and doesn't miss a beat.

The only wires I removed were for the starter motor and the earths which I cleaned and put back correctly where is this fuse / relay you were on about
96terrano ?

Il go out after diner and have a look to see if the immobiliser led is flashing when I try and start car

NOT GOOD !!!!!!!:(

I fitted the new starter connected the battery back up and the battery was low on charge as I'd been messing around with it all day so I put my other trucks battery in there.

Key in the ignition, glow plug light goes out after approx 15 seconds then turns the key mmmmmm starter turning really fast or as I should do but not firing at all doesn't even sound like its going to fire

Tried this a couple of times but nothing just turning over and not firing !!!!

A new problem now !!!!!!

Had the intercooler off today cleaning it out and had a look and the glow plugs which look brand.

Looks like they've just been taken out of the box and fitted ?

I had my old glow plug relay in the cupboard which I know works perfect fitted that but still no joy !!!

So now it turns lovely but doesn't fire ???
will the key fob lock and unlock the car

Guys just been back out got the missis to turn the key to the on position without turning the engine over heard the glow plug relay that seems to be working then I got her to turn the truck over and the immobiliser led goes out no probs it doesn't flash while turning over so I presume that the immobiliser disarms as It should.

I'm at my wits end already with this truck as I can't understand why it will start when being towed over a short distance but not when you try and start it normally !!!!

Don't give up just yet mate, since you have done all of this testing, have you tried tow starting it since?

This def sounds like a immobiliser issue to me now, very strange.

If you were closer I would love to come and help, I love diagnosing pesky problems on cars hehe

.

What is the stop start solenoid guys could that be causing me a problem ?? What does bump starting a car overide as apposed to starting it normally ?

Just a thought, and not a good one, but when you turn the key to the start position, it turns a lot of stuff back off again, that is on in the "Run" position. I wonder if it is turning too much off, e.g. a dodgy key switch.

Just trying to think of an easy way to test it out, but at the moment, all I can think of, is turning the key to the run position, and then hot wiring the starter motor, so it spins the engine over with out turning the key to the start position, which is sort of what you are doing when you bump start.
