One thing i've always hated about the T2 is that you can't switch off the boot light when the back door is open & the only way around it is to keep removing the bulb which I do when we are away camping as we often have the back door open:augie So the only way around it apart from taking out the bulb is to fit a switch some how, popped into maplin's & had a good look through all the switches they had & bought a ultra miniature toggle switch for £2.39:thumb2 Drilled a small hole in the light cover for the switch to fit through & then made up a little patch lead with a female spade connector to fit onto the light & another with a male spade connector to plug into one of the plugs on the light wiring:augie

Mine has a nice brilliant white bulb in and a switch so nerrrrrrrr :lol

Infact I believed I had this problem, but after 10 mins the light does indeed go out, with the doors open or not (tried and tested)
I wonder if Nissan made a mend to this on the slightly later models perhaps? or some sort of timer?

I am also LED light too :thumb2

Mines younger than yours Alex & never noticed the light ever going out if a door is left open but even if it does it's nice to be able to over ride it

Interior lights do go out when doors are left open, but it seems to take forever!:augie

I fitted leds to mine for a crisper light, but I do like your switch.:thumb2

Cheers:D Must never have waited long enough or noticed them going out but as I said when away camping door either gets left open for a while or opened several times a day & each time the lights come on it'll put a slight drain on the battery as the motor can go days without being started. Might seem pointless to some but at least I now have the option:p

i'm sure i've switched mine off, do the earlier fords have a dual switch like front, on off on/door open?

gonna check when i go hay the ponies up

couldn't wait, just been over, i see where your're going with it now. I don't have that light, just a blanking panel. I've got the two main interior lights only.

Must get one of these switches!
Resorted to taking bulb out within months of buying Terrano mainly because light stayed on too long and proved annoying when driving.

for 2.39 you could have bought a led bulb to fit and it being on would never matter due to the much lower power consumption,
still a nice neat job of fitting the switch though

My LED bulbs should be here within a month (coming from Hong Kong:lol) was out tonight & it was nice not having the boot lit up as well as the cabin & helps stop passing prying eyes looking in to my boot when a door is open as I have my parcel shelf fold back 1/2 way most of the time & the sub box isn't lit up

Now there's a question, do they come with parcel shelves as standard? I don't have one :nenau :(

Yes they do most had a roller blind type but the later ones got a folding one which is like q normal car parcel shelf & found with it folded out over the boot reduces quite a bit of road noise

I would have thought that Alex's would be the folding type like mine, my 2001 had the roller type :)

Two Q's

1) What type and where do you get the LED bulbs for the interior lights? Are they all the same? Part #'s would be helpful :thumb2

2) I want a cover for the rear load area. (got let down on the one I WAS getting).

The front map lights above the rear view mirror are 501's, the center roof light is a 42mm feaston bulb & the rear roof light in the boot & number plate bulbs are all 36mm feaston bulbs:thumbs If you are wanting to go the LED route go for the SMD type as they are much brighter:augie
