Boot carpet removal

I'm going to remove the boot carpet as i'm going to add a little sound deadening under it. Is it just the rear door trim that needs removing (going to add some silicon under it) or is there anything else that need removing

Grab carpets, rip out, throw in bin, find muddy water

Ryan was your man for this one... No longer a member.
You may have to unbolt the rear seat belts.
The carpet should pull out from under the rear plastic side panels, but could be a pain to get back under, so you might need to remove them.

Also if you increase the carpet thickness, you might have to shave some off the rubber feet on the middle row and back row seat squabs, as you may not be able to get the catches to work without slamming the seats down.

When you have the carpet up, check for any rust:augie
This is one of the most vulnerable areas.

Not if you make a nice slit with a Stanley knife the other side of the bolt, then it just slips away around it

Sound advice, be careful if you undo the bolts! When i took my carpet out i undid the bolts and the arches just fell to bits and had to make some plates to weld in!

If they were that weak, then better to find out early in the work shop than on the road...

100 % agree mate i have two kids cars seats in there!! i went overboard on fixing it and can safely say the arches will out live the rest of the truck now :thumbs
What annoyed me most is the person out there that put an MOT on it before i bought it!! Goes to show what muppets we have in society!

Cheers know the front part behind the 2nd row just pulls up & back so you can see the inner arches & floors as I've done it loads just wasn't sure about the back so will poss trim the carpet by the 3rd row seat belts if they are tight (might take those belts out as 3rd row will never be going back in:augie) going to add some 6mm poly under lay I've got as it should cut a bit of road noise, stop the carpet from getting that wrinkle look, help to keep some heat in & help stop the floor panel getting wet from anything that's put in the boot:augie

tha 3rd row of seat are held in by 4 bolts that's to all remove them and then just remove the black door plate . then the carpet can come up . but I would check in the wheel arches my was under sealed so when I went to remove the seat belt bolts it pulled the underseal into the threads and got it stuck. so I ended up cutting a slit so I could remove it .

That's what I did with mine. The bolts can be a right git to remove as the ends rust up. With the slits you can remove the carpet in 2 mins.

Dead right they mean nothing! people think it must be ok its got 12 months MOT!! Mine had nearly 9 months mot on it when i bought it and there is no way it should have! Good job i knew what i was getting myself in for otherwise i would have been well out of pocket paying for repair bills!
