I thought you were in rented?
Not your responsibility?

Imagine Alex messing with lets say a gas boiler...:doh
He said he wants to go up in the world...

He's proberly taking bits off it for his snorkle he's going to be fitting soon :jesterbg:jesterbg

No my missus owns, we are with aa but apparently system needs flushing which they do not cover... :nenau

He also suspected a water switch too but now said that just a flush should be the cure. :doh

... we are with aa...

Sorry Alex I didn't realise, do you go to their meetings, was it beer or whisky that started your problem with alcohol...?

I feel guilty now suggesting that you get Rick a bottle of Malt...:augie

:lol:lol:lol

A flush is about 400 quid.that's why they don't cover it

Just done mine, flushed out the old water and refilled with added inhibitor £9. I also added a new AAV £6 as the old one was a bit buggered.

Alex, watch your language :nono:nono

So am I, Alex do not bother with a flush at stupid money, it really is a money making racket, and does not even fit your symptoms on the info supplied so far, what make and model is your boiler and what flashes? Rick

Thanks for the replys all. As it happens we actually rang up again and said it stopped working immediately after he left :naughty

So they sent someone round and weirdly enough he had a part to fit, a water switch at the top left of the boiler, so the other guy must have flagged something up.

This all seems well until I suggested I turn on the water too aswell as the heating that was already on, pump is ok on 3 and pressure at 1.5 bar.

After 5 mins of water being on also with heating it began "fast flash" as opposed to "slow flash"

This baffled the second chap, but he was very thorough, after checking almost everything and continuity checks ect we looked at the pcb (motherboard or ecu if you like) and when flicking the power switch on the wall, wait a few secs, fan would kick in and boom, a small spark on the board was spotted, only once we spotted this did a new symptom appear of the pilot light coming on and off every 3/5 seconds with an occasional quick spurt on and off too...

He had ordered a pcb board, if this does not cure it, he suspects the harness behind it. He left the new switch on too. (It's all covered) :D :thumb2

Weirdly enough, earlier the crap Irish guy was testing stuff and missed all this... But somehow he could make the pilot light come on by blowing on an air pipe at the top? It reminded me of the old skool techniques you see :naughty

It's a combi Worcester 28i junior boiler btw.

Mumpties, sparks on the pcb are not a good sign, any water on the board? and the flash OK it is fast but what about the reset button if it is flashing as well this indicates a board fault, if it is off then there is a list of items it could be, Rick

Well Joke time now....

You have been waiting for this one.....

I bet you saw this coming.....

A man goes skydiving for the first time. After listening to the instructor for what seems like days, he is ready to go. Excited, he jumps out of the airplane. After a bit, he pulls the ripcord. Nothing happens. He tries again. Still nothing. He starts to panic, but remembers his back-up chute. He pulls that cord. Nothing happens...

He frantically begins pulling both cords, but to no avail. Suddenly, he looks down and he can't believe his eyes. Another man is in the air with him, but this guy is going *up*!!

Just as the other guy passes by, the skydiver -- by this time scared out of his wits -- yells, "Hey, do you know anything about skydiving?"

The other guy yells back, "No! Do you know anything about gas boilers?"

:lol:lol

Hi Rick, yes it's the reset button that flashes fast. Even if you reset it whilst water or heating is on it waits for 5 seconds then flashes come back again.

As it happens up until this guy left we would get regular red flashing on reset, now we have no pilot light, in his defense the board was resetting the pilot every several seconds... No water on board. It was a little orange strip across the bottom of the board that kept sparking, the cases are all back on now. :doh

We did look at the list of items in the manual it said, harness, fan or pcb I believe. Th fan is kicking in when the boiler is switched on and off so not that.

Oh forgot to mention, earlier the Irish chap managed to blow a fuse in the boiler somewhere... Had to switch off the house power  :augie
