to be honest

as a nebie to off road ,i would go out on a club arranged event, with other terrano & mav's basically if the car in front goes through you should too

i go out with big raised landrover's with lots of kit on sometimes and have a great day, and even get to pull them out backwards very occasionally
but most of the time its me stuck

you need good patient friends and lots of warm waterproof clothes on

i like to see where i can go and like it hard... i think most people will find dry gravel tracks boring after 30 mins

the trouble you will find is what other trucks use the site your visiting.
if its big landrovers with 38 inch wheels on the ruts could be 10 inches to deep for you... you wont have a fun day

if its a route known by someone and your with other well equipped terrano's ... you will have fun and you wont wreck your truck

so as a newbie go on a terrano trip after about a week of dry weather on a fun but known track , you dont need mud tyres on just good a/t's with good tread... unless you just want to go mad

also dont drive too close if the car in front is going a bit deep wait and see how they do, too close and your both stuck

having said all that it is really good fun and you will be surprised where the truck will go

dont ever go alone 2 trucks minimum

I help out with BOFA4x4 at Cannock Chase and we're currently waiting on the "new" dates for the coming twelve months.

To put anyone's mind at rest, the groups are usually split into two:

- newbies / shineys

- more modified motors

We get many "first timers" - just ask to go in Colin's group and you'll get looked after!

yes theres a name for people like you! :lol:lol:lol:lol:lol:lol:lol:lol

Yeh and I wouldn't go with Colin's newbie group!:D

definite daisy chain....

reminds me of when I worked in an office in some place outside Milton Keynes with an unfortunately-named pub next door.

Newbies always gave you a funny look when you calmly announced 'I'm just nipping round to The Cottage for a quick one...':eek::eek:

Don't worry .......... all 4x4's are welcome ....... just make sure you've got good recovery points ;o)
