far as im aware you can go up to a 2" lift without having to extend pipes & hoses etc on my T2 (pretty sure) im thinking of putting a inch & half kit on mine & before i start are they any hidden secrets these kits dont tell you about , anything to look out for guys....

keep it on level ground, Take front and back bumpers off. .

Get 'em off, it's much easier to get at things to start with.
Undo all of them but leave the bolts in place, then jack up one SIDE first. Pull out the high side's bolts, put in the spacers and refit bolts.
Let down and repeat other side.
Then remember to go all round tightening the buggers up again :D
£63 quid kit but that's for 50mm inc bolts.

Did a 2 " lift on ours only thing that needs any modding is the bumpers where they fit to the body, easy job only took about half a day, there was a download for doing it but it went missing.. :nenau

also worth putting some wd40 on the last rear ones. theres a small hole which can be used for this when you take the rear bumper off.
