I've tried like fook to drum up local meets in the South East but with only 1 regular YES from "paulp" its not worth doing :(

I love the site for banter n help but it piss's me off so much that nobody seems to want to make the effort to meet up n I'm not just on about off roading, as i do that with the www.bonkas4x4wales.com crew :naughty

So the question is WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO DO MORE OF

problem i have it TIME... just dont get enough to drive all over the place to meet up.

but I HAVE met a few people fo rone reason or another...

Hi ya peeps

Nice to see adz trying to up the interest.

We did have a very good meting section 2-3 years back, when a number of member met up at-least 3-4 a year, :clap:clap
but things went astray when the club changed hands to Bat21 the damage to the club had been done, :nenau
some of the other core members went and did other things, thats Me included as i own a Little tin Box as you call them (Caravan to Me):thumb2
Yes i still go caravanning 4-5 a year in fact i still meet up with at least 4 other old members of the club twice this year already.
And the first week of June i am in Cornwall with 3 old members for a whole week :clap:clap

Most members are ordinary folk and not out and out off roaders, and as such have no intrest in the pay and play sites,
as a keen caravanner i see no point in going to a field in the middle of some where just to find a green lane on my door step.
we go as a family and that means some thing for the wife to do while the guys sit round and talk cars late in to the night :lol:lol
But i do like green laneing and can bee found out on Salisbury plane when i get a chance, :thumbs:thumbs

Any how back to the core of your post,
If your are going to organises any meet you need to find the common interest and build around that.
Easy ours is the Nissan 4x4 in one form or another.
And your going to need 3 other things for a good meeting and to get people interested.

1) good Caravan and Camp Site with electric and showers willing to take a rally

2) A range off thing to do In. the past we had group outings to Safarie parks day show laneing and yes even shopping.

3) Organisation and leadership as any event that i have got involved with is dame challenging and hard work

But in the end its always been Fun :clap:clap:clap:clap

Sorry to go on :lol

Hiya all, thought I would chip in (if i don't I'll have to go back to working)

I have found this forum to be world of resources and helpful folks. I probably tend to visit in fits and starts depending on how much spare time i have from day to day.

I also, don't restrict myself to one forum (i doubt many do), but this one does have a strong sense of membership when compared to just logging in, asking a question, and bogging off when you have the answers you need.

regards meeting folk.. well a tough one if you have already met those who are local to you already. thats where I started off and while slightly odd (hey I'm off to meet someone I met online) at first I am really glad I started to do just that.

I have moved around the world alot and find a good way to keep social barriers down is to keep up communication so you dont have that sense of gosh I have't spoken to Bill in months and you stop making the effort. I was going to suggest sharing of skype addresses within your profile so you can maintain a more "real time" chat with folks, but I am now wondering if that would detract form people actually posting on the forum.

personally, I'd love to have weekend trips /camping etc, but with a young family it makes it a little hard. However, laning days (surreyoffroaders has one planned for the 30th may) etc are a good way of at least meeting people who are local.

sorry about the longwinded post... really dont want to go back to work....

i.e. Center Parks...?

Unless its a Club Stand @ a Show, no leadership needed, just good organisation...
But in the end its always been Fun :clap:clap:clap:clap

Thats ok :lol :augie

Well at least I'm not alone :clap :thumbs

We have nothing stopping us this year to organize some outings but how about us MOD's organizing a club stand at a show next & point out that there are other 4x4's out there apart from bloody Discos :doh :lol :augie :thumbs

I am not happy with the forum , there is a distinct lack of naked women , other than thats is fine how it is. :augie

:clap:clap:clap:clap:clap:clap:clap
:lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol

i'm happy with it, I think Paul's experience in these matters has shown as the early 'teething' issues all seem to have disapeared.

As mentioned though it would be nice to have a few more events and and stuff but that's down to us I supose.

Well I'll leave this thread going for ideas  / rants :lol / banter :augie :lol

Then us mods & involved members can start regional meets etc

& we can all put input into a club stand at a show next year :nenau
