not sure it is every time on the bosch, but think about how much longer it will take to get to 1000" if the weather is -8.
i know it is only a few degs below normal, but it must take longer and use more current? must do, even if only small, also i think they are thichfilm units, which become more brittle with time and temp, so could play a part.
i have found an audi site where they are converting cars from bosch to hitachi, re-mapping ecu to cope, as they are the best:eek:
all seem problems to me, first came across them on vw golfs, had same problems on all, including failing always in the winter.

is yours hitachi?
the primera p11 used same as terrano, both hitachi and bosch, and are much cheaper.
found a place in spain (the home of the terrano) which is selling brand new primera hitachi maf's for £75, 12 month warranty, not bad.
they do bosch as well, again well worth checking with mr nissan, who may well be milking 4x4 owners like everyone else?

I have one of each. And whats thichfilm when its out? Both Bosch and Hitachi are hot wire?:)

I know I harp on about it but in five T2s/Mavs and +300k miles I've never had a MAF problem, but then I've always driven them hard and had them regularly serviced, so fresh clean air filters (until the induction kit on truck No3 which I've used ever since......again without problem).

I can never quite work out where some of the horrific shite that some people claim to have cleaned from their MAFs actually comes from if their truck is properly maintained??

Thichfilm or Thickfilm is just the method of construction, just a bunch of exposed parts on a substrate. But they are potentially exposed.

thichsteve.

in tv's early days of intergrated circuits we used to have thickfilm sub assemblies, seemed to fail in cold weather, or when being unsolderd (too hot)
i have not seen a terrano bosch unit but believe the unit contains the ellemnent on the film?
when i got the maverick it was slow and seemed to tickover high, removed maf and cleaned sorted problem until start of cold weather when it played up, put in the primera one, and all ok.
but contamination is most likely to come from the rocker not the outside air, the blowby smoke/gas is injected just below maf, in normal use it will be downstream, but maybe on excesive ideling it will swirl around?

If I read you right, the answer is no, both types are straightforward hot wire AFAIK.
