well those that have been following my threads will know that i have had a few problems lately well today i went out collecting my wvo and it started like a lazy starter but started and when i got 6mls to my pick up i loaded and bloody starter played up.
spinning but not throwing the pinion in so called son in law out with my jump leads in case of low battery and was the same and did not have a tow rope so called rac.
after 1 hour they came and said stater was shot so got a pull start and got home.
anyway it looks like a new starter is needed though this one is almost new.
more expense.
i have an ip pump to get my other one running.

Have you got the receipt for the current starter? If so and it's under a year old get it replaced for free.

I do not suppose anyone has a starter to fit a 98 close to me do they as I need one like yesterday.

got the starter out today, well a mate did, tight to work and tight to lift out.
its mullered like just turn it upside down and bendix just flops back and forth.
took it to get replacement and no one had in stock so paid for it and collect tomorrow.£145.00.not cheap.
the one that came off was fairly new but unbranded.
i suppose you get what you pay for.
mate collecting it and fitting tomorrow afternoon.£25.00

away vanning till 13th then start work on my broken green t2 to replace ip,f/bumper and both f/wings.

Did not start on 13th as another trip came along.
So today I started to strip ip out.
Got everything undone and timed up with pulley nut loose the bottom nut of the 3 I can't get at because I think it might be a large oil feed banjo in the way.
I haven't got a socket big enough so had enough today.
I have 3 days to get it running befor I am away again.
Now if I was at clacton my home I would know where to loan what I need but being I am at my mates where the t2 was relaid to I have not a clue.
So I might have to go to thetford and buy one as I must get it running befor Thursday.
My mate is away till tomorrow so will wait and see if he has what I need.
As for the job, once header tank batt and power pump is all out of the way its not to bad apart from the back lower injector pipe, hard to get a spanner in.
Will persevere till its going but won't have time to do bodywork yet.

Had a fuel problem with the replacement t2.
Took ip banjo off and blew it through then all ok.

I've ordered a new starter off he internet, which I now need to collect from DPD.

I've still not manage to get my starter out. I can get the bottom bolt okay, slow, but can manage. I just cant get the top one off, the space seems so small that only a socket will fit on the bolt, but then there's not enough space for the socket ratchet to fit past the dipstick tube. Tried my new ratchet ring spanners, but slightly too broad headed for the space round the bolt. Normal spanner & ring have no space to turn if I get them on.

Any idea how your mate managed to get this bolt out?

I'm hoping to keep this starter (it's a refurbished Bosch one originally), take it apart and see if I an refurbish it myself as a spare.

If its tdi you will need to take the vacuum pump off to access the bottom bolt

Thanks its tdi.
My brother said that'd what it is.last night I thought about the 4 wheel nut sockets I have so will try them.

My mate used a ring spanner on the bolt with another one linked to give leverage.

I'm in Baz Vegas
Where abouts r u :naughty :nenau :augie

I'm around weekends if ya need help :sly

Ok got the big nut off but I still can't get to the lower ip nut off so how do I take the vacume pump off,I have searched to manual on oil but can't find it.any fast help please on how to get it off in situe.

Thanks the t2 is in weeting near Brandon Norfolk.
I need to get this running by Thursday.
Never herd of Baz. Vegas.
Help would be helpful.could collect.

found picture of vp on manual just shows 2 bolts holding it on,undone what i think are the ones and levered it but wont budge.
can anyone explane how to remove vp so i can get to bottom nut on ip please,ie talk me through it.

After a nother few hours of bending I got the vp out and the ip is but one nut left but is loosened so tomorrow I will get ip off and put new to me one on.
Only thing is I put a pinhole in the rad so need to sort that now as well.

Another update on my green t2 with the shot ip.
Yesterday I did enough to try to fire it up after replacing the ip.
It finally went after bleeding fuel through and making sure fuel wad getting to the return pipe..
I left the injectors loose to bleed on cranking.
No fuel spitting out so I did all of them up and a bit more cranking and it fired up for a short time.
I was running from a derv jerry can befor I put main tank into service.
Smoked a bit but soon cleared.
Ticked over on the nose and held revs through the band so pleased as the ip timing can't ne far off.
I connected the tank and did the same and had it going up and down the revs for 1/2 he getting it up to temp.

Checked for fuel and water leaks ok.
I had to do some repairs on the rad as I put 3 pin holes in some upright coolets so befor putting it back I had the rad on a table with water in it and used long nose pliers to squeeze thr alloy together enough to be able to use the rad.
After each pinch I blew dry the area and checked for leaks.
Took about ten attempts to stop the flow.
On getting to temp no leaks on the rad, that I could see but it could be leaking from where I can't see so moved truck to dry floor area and left it to cool and settle water level.
I have packed up now till next weekend as away vanning till then.
It is starting on the button ok.
I have not test drove it yet ad my caravan is in front of it.
Thanks for the pump, you know who you are and thanks for the help on here.
I do not want to do that job again.LOL.
