in my first post solarman.
i have always added an extra in line filter on my wvo cars with no trouble.
i changed them at the same time as the main filter so line was clear.
my brother had fuel starvation on his pj,that took a long time to get to the bottom of it as well, turned out to be a fungus in his tank.
we put an inline filter on his to to save the big one.the same as mine and his is 2.7 as well got his sorted after draining and cleaning his tank.
my tank is clean.
may be by putting the inline filter on i inadvertently put to much strain on the ip.
i am thinking about fitting a 12v pump to feed from the tank to ease the ip pump.
anyone done it.

Sorry missed that bit about the in line filter, 12v pump sounds like a good idea but it could cause a problem with the governor, but I say worth a try, but only with a low pressure pump, Rick

well the good news is t2 passed the mot with flying colours.
the bad news is that it was a longer drive to mot and the fuel starvation came back.
got home and fed a 2lt full of my fresh filtered wvo like i would put into the tank, straight to ip line and all ok.
next i fed the wvo through the stock filter unit, and all ok.
next i connected it up as it should be and its pulling the primer pump down with no fuel cap on.
being as i have taken out the fuel pick up out of the tank and the tank is clean i conclude that the steel or rubber pipe to tank is sucking air.
i blew through in and out and clear.all front pipes are new.
anyway it needs a ramp so going first thing in morning to get on ramp armed with 10mm copper and fuel pipe to bypass line to pump, see what happens and bypass the steel pipe over the back axel.

an update.
put new 10mm copper pipe right from the top outlet of the tank, just a short new rubber and clips, all the way to front bulkhead up the inner wing, short new rubber and clips to join to go to the other side to fuel filter.
sucked fuel through to bleed air and connected it all together and it started on the button instead of turning over.looking good.
went for a 10ml test drive and no holding back, even using the revs, looking good.
then nearly home and i got lose of power at a junction and i thought oh sht,
then on way home it did not miss another beat,at home lifted the bonnet up and gave it a fair rev up so i could watch the fuel filter plunger and that did not move so a glitch from somewhere but looking good.
anyway decided to go away and first stint will be 70mls.
will hope for the best but i have to try it towing van.
will let you know later what happens.

well another update as its interesting.
i set off to do the 70 mls and all seemed ok untill i gave it a bit of welly, done 25 mls then it started holding back again and cut out just as i was pulling into a lay bye to investigate.
started up and all seemed ok.
any way i decided to carry on got to my destination ok,but its not cured.
i put a cctv cam in the bay facing the fuel filter linked to a tv in the car and set of for a hard drive.
it was not long befor i could see that the fuel filter primer plunger was being pulled down under load, very intresting as its another new filter, thats 4 in a week.anyway i pulled into a lay bye and by pasted the filter unit and put an inline one in its place.
walla full power is restored.
so the filter diafram or spring is fcked.
at last i have it sorted.
went away with the van and no probs out or back so decided to put the inline tank swerl chamber back and put it all together again at the rear.
not to find a filter unit etc for front and see if its fixed once and for all.

more about this.
been using an inline filter for 300mls,seamed ok but on way home after dropping the van of i decided to boot it and walla it was still holding back.
i pulled into a shell and looked at the inline filter, not good but not clogged so changed it to a large inline and booted it hard all the way home.took it to 4000rmpand was pleased the way the t2 went.
this seams to let a larger fuel flow through.not sure about the micron though.
