Well it's been a long day but the Black Pearl diff donor has landed :D

1 front lokka
2 manual hubs
2 petrol diffs
5 khumo 31" MTs
7 months MOT
and a partridge in a pear tree :naughty
Result :splif:

you had not noticed then that below 1500 revs it has more torque than the Tdi, agreed above that and the TDi comes into its own, Rick

No I didn't sorry. I presumed it was to do with 31" tyres under gearing.
My first 2 terranos were petrol ones , never had any issues power wise off road. Then I went oil burner and big tyres. Torque tastic :D
Now then , while I have your attention, what do you reckon the effect will be of running ordinary diff oil instead of LSD oil ?
I'm going to have a go at re shimming the clutch packs but will std oil get me the same result ?

Mmm where I live we have a rough track uphill to the road, and found that all the petrols that we have had could go up at 1000 revs in second even with a trailer on, all the customer TDi's that I have had here and our own could not do this even solo, except my Mrs Bosch pumped motor which goes up regular at even under 1000 with no sign of stress whatsoever, just an observation, re LSD yes stick any old oil in it, it will not lock completely but not be far off, do not bother with re shimming etc unless the plates are well worn, but have yet to see a T2 rear diff that has worn that much, incidentally I removed a worn steering box a short while ago so is ripe for modding, Rick

Top info Rick thanks, never shimed a diff so that's one less thing to learn :lol
As for the torque etc on the petrol, I'm sure you're right. It's so long since I've driven a std ish motor I cant really comment fairly.I was happy to get my foot to the floor and munch some m/way miles.
Hope to get some lane action this week before we strip it. I'll report back then ;)
Happy days
June meet transport sorted anyway :D

So old oil in lsd will let it bite more??

This is what I understand, yes , or std oil. You often get people asking why their trucks are a lively back end and that's usually because they haven't changed Lsd oil for ages. 😊

I changed mine few months back for new and wasn't convinced its made it any better. So does it have to be old LSD oil?

Swapped my rear diff last week, Pete don't get too excited
Has made a difference but its not earth shattering!! Made setting of from a stand still better and when rolling it picks its feet up a good bit quicker and its made cornering easier :thumb2

Swapped as in petrol ? I assume front too ? You're on 35s too aren't you ? Anyway every little helps me thinks ☺
Kind of interested to try out diff oils now.
