after many fuel filter changes etc ive been told 2 things!
1.my nissan mistral has no timing belt! is this true?
if so what replaces that system??
i ask because garage suggested changing timing belt!!
and 2.the black diesel is caused by burst seal in fuel pump! but i cant find anyone to refurb/repair or supply replacement for 2.7 N reg mistral.
can anyboby help MOT due soon ,still running but i really want this prob fixed.
mechanic on phone assures me fixing seal(or replacing pump) will sort prob and black diesel will work its way out eventually.
help please .CHEERS
located west coast scotland 130mls from Glasgow,if that helps!
Cheers:nenau

Yip no belt its gear driven, change garage this one doesen't know much about these trucks and I wouldn't let him touch the pump.
Where do you first see this black diesel, tank, filter, pump or injecter.
Keep asking on here some of the top bods will have a solution for you. David.

Is this diesel causing any smoke for mot?
Have you took a sample of fuel out at the filter if its there is possiblly bacteria and ebay will have an additive for it.

If you have BLACK fuel then you could well have the diesel bug and yes it can cause black smoke as it fuffs everything up, there is a "sticky" on it here some place, it is a living organism that invades your fuel tank and can be hard to get rid of, Rick

where is talk of the bug coming from? i think he means he has been running his car on waste oil.

are you sure the pump is bad? could be any number of things. i have run these on lots of waste oil and not had any probs

if your garage man suggested changing the timing belt - suggest to him that his parents are brother and sister !

You not heard of the "diesel bug" it is real and and a right bas???? to get rid of, it lives in the water at the bottom of most tanks, the best I can describe it is like Caviare (do not know if that is the correct spelling but you know what I am talking about, the mega expensive fish spawn) and it is real bad I have seen it in lumps the size of melons, and it is very hard to kill, it does not normally invade road going vehicles but can just as easily as a boat, Rick

I have seen the black bug also in heavy equipment because they were refueling from barrels in a remote location. It is nasty slimy stuff. The sticky about it is in the forum "Engine and Running Gear" or click here.

yep i know what it is - ive had the sh1t in my bio tank. (lucas bio medic works wonders) just the clean out job thats a pain in the arse!
i think there must be different types? mine was a lighter brown colour.a mate had it in his car the same colour as well

thank for replies guys.
no not bio diesel !! or waste oil
first noticed when car started cutting out ,spluttering to a stop!
black smoke when starting
fuel filters are blocking ,but ive not noticed any sticky stuff when changingit.just black free running fuel !!
drained some from tank its free running also?
heard of fuel bug, live on coast but this seems different.would go to mechanic i bought from but hes way down south and recomends using diesel pump specialist(will have to email him to see if he can suggest someone)
if nobody knows where i can get it it fixed where can i get a replacement fuel pump??
gain cheers all

I'd try draining down the tank, clean it out as best you can, new fuel filter (and clean the banjo on the pump - see downloads). Fill the new fuel filter with injector cleaner to mainline the stuff in, then use clean diesel and try that.

Could be someone has tried running on a blend of waste oil and diesel, or could be as simple as a different dye has been used for some reason, like they use in red diesel.

black diesel

ok not bug, or bio fuel prob
any suggestions as to where i can get a spare part(pump ,see attached) at reasonable price?im emailing scrappies as we speak.
cheers

hi mate this might be worth alook check your fuel lines to see if theres any holes in them [over wheel arch is fav] or cncfab may have pump or put a few litres of rapeseed oilin it that helps to clean your system.
