just went to try a new green lane to me to find that some rotter has put a large concrete block in the way as to stop 4x4 vehicles.
can someone tell me if there is a place that i can complain to?
the track is TL 4850 087 on trialwise

That isn't a trailwise UID - do you mean TL4808-01

If you know the owner of the land around it, ask them too. that block must belong to some one, if not the council.

99% of the lanes get blocked off around here,, Wiltshire.

as im between stonehenge and Avbury. so the long haird lot move in a lot..

Its usually one or the other, the landowner more usually than the council. |Councils tend to erect gates and put up signs etc - blocks of concrete are usually landowners though of course they will deny it as they are actually committing an offence putting them there. As has been said if its a byway contact local rights of way dept - most will ave an enforcement officer but either way have to do something about it.

Where would you stand if you ramped the said concrete block if possible & drove over it.?
Or moved it.?
Just curious.?

thinking about it, the land owners around here use old farm kit.. just dump it in the way

i will get onto the council tommorow, and as for trying to move it!!! forget it its huge!!! you would need a crane!!!!!!!!

Provided there is no official closure of the lane - you need to check first really, thoug it should be signed if there is - then you are perfectly entitled to abate the obstruction, round it, over it or move it - up to you really - but don't do anymore than is reasonable - as to what reasonable is, only a court can decide.

theres no closure sign, there is a sign saying byway on an open gate that has a padlock attatched with a chain, i guess this didnt work by the local land owner lolol.
i will know more tommorow after speaking to the council

Yes I have done it myself - both move the block/tree and drive around. You can only legally move any obstruction far enough so that you an get past.

Theres a couple I know of locally - just working on the letter to ROW dept at the moment about them. And if they don't get remove by the next time I go that way they may end up in the bottom of the ditch next to the lane - be a bit more difficult for him to put em back from there - on going problem and with the same blocks, I ahave photos to prove, ROW get em moved and they just returm - runs back 2yrs + that I know and I'm not local to it.
