when my mav is cold i drive down the road and get a rubbing sound coming from the front when i free wheel and engine of its still there??
once been on the road a bit it goes away

any ideas i cant get from which side as being partly deaf

is it your viscous fan>? from cold, the fan always sounds louder, and it goes away....I cant think of anything else that could make that sort of noise at that sort of level that goes away everytime from cold...

The fan wouldn't make any noise if the engine was off. :doh

It is a weird sound though, when the coupling warms up the noise fades and it sounds like you're slowing down as you speed up.

As far as your noise goes Robobone, I have no idea, does/did your neighbour have a cat ?

You'll have to get someone to walk along side you as you go along.

oh yeah sorry i read that wrong! that makes no sense.....how can there be any sound when the engine is off..ok, how long does that sound last for, when you turn off the engine? cos it could still the the fan-loose or broken?

the length of time the sound is there varies

just wondering if its in rhe wheels area would the snap rings make that sound in the cold?

sounds like it could be the brake caliper not fully releasing - common problem as the pins corrode and need freeing up again. or could be rear brake shoes slightly misaligned....either way I'd have a squint at the brakes before anything else....:thumb2

How about auto hub sticking on? remember all the problems I had with mine. Try running it backwards and forwards in 4wd to see if it frees it off.
