bio diesel in 3.0

Hi can you run the 3.0 T2 on bio diesel as its a far bitter cheaper at my local toal garage

bio diesel is the same viscosity as normal diesel, isn't it?
it is veg oil which is thicker, might be wrong, but that is what i always thought.

correct, bio is just diesel derived from veg oil type products - or more correctly you'll find its a mix, probably not more than 30% - thats the highest I think you can get which is from Morrisons....whats the stuff you are looking at?

But you do need to check with someone thats used it, cos the same kind of limitations apply as SVO really, as Tez says, common rail and direct injection diesels don't like it I think...

Viscosity depends who makes it.

If its B30 from morrisions then yes it will be pretty similar to dino diesel. If its some that someones knocking up in a shed at home then could be totally different.

I buy B100 (100%) for much of the time and occasionally B50 (50%) when I'm in a different area.

I use it in both the terrano and my Renault master van (Direct injection iveco engine) and both thrive on the stuff.


Ordinary forecourt stuff is prety save in most cars - remember all diesel now contain 5% minimum bio content. But if you start buying from specialist producers the good ones will give you advice and tell you to start off at 30% say and work up from there see what your engine will tolerate. If they just say "go on it in it will be allright" with no advice then I'd walk away, if thats their attitude how can you trust the quality of the stuff they produce. I see the place I buy it testing and all the samples are sat there on a shelf to be seen so you know its an on going process and they are doing it right - its so easy to get water content left in or too higher methanol level etc, non of which are good for your engine.
