Couple of weeks ago we went to rally at Locunolé and then on to Uncle Scotts restaurant for a classic car and bike show, later half of the day the bike was making a strange noise, and wasn't handling very well. Any way just got round to looking at it and the rear wheel bearing has collapsed.I have ordered new bearings but can't get the old shell out no room to get a screwdriver in from the other side as there is a large ridge, any ideas ?

Looks to me like the hub is alloy, if so it has a greater expansion than steel, so heat it up so you cannot touch it, (hot oil is good) then it should almost fall out, to help it along a screwdriver with a bend on the end to get past the ridge as a drift, Rick

Bit of threaded rod with a big washer on one end and washer same size as the bearing on the other, Rick

Old thread revival...... Had that problem a few times where the back of the bearing is not accessible, if the inner race and balls are not too worn you can reassemble the bearing and evenly space the balls with a hot glue gun then knock it out. If the balls and inner race are worn then remove the other bearing (providing it's the same size) and break the cage up.
