Hi does anyone know what the largest tyres i can fir to a standard T2 as thinking of getting a second hand set of 15/16 in rims to put bigger wheels on for off roading.

id love to know this answer too!!

ive got 16" and 15" rims.. just need to know how big i can go now

i believe 235 75 on 15s or 235/70 on 16s.
also going much wider will effect lock, oh and
of course dont forget your insurer.

the more aggressive mud treads will be taller
than their at/ht equivalents.

31x10x15 will go but foul front mud flaps but
easily removed. after that looking at 32"s with
bit of panel beating to front arches or 33s with
some lifting, either body or suspension or both
for 35s.

for front lift, torsion bars can be wound up which
helps raise front, often restoring sagging with age.

beyond this they can be reindexed which is slightly
bigger job. rear lift is easier with lwb springs on swb
vehicles or new taller springs. typically around 2
inches. general opinion is 2 inch body lift reasonably
straight forward.

Don't know what's the biggest size you can fit but my T2 (Mark 111, year 2000) seems to have 245 / 70 / 16 as standard and seems to have room to move up a size or two without too much problem. Have a look at the tyre size calculator on the downloads section of the site. Its very helpful in comparing different tyre sizes.

I have 265/75/R16 , rubs on steering box (just a tiny tiny mount on lock , 5mm spacer will do it) , rubs plastic inner arches (i will remove).

Have been wondering this myself. When I change the tyres on mine, I'd like to put some slightly bigger AT tyres on it. I don't want to go extreme or even make any mods to do it, just slightly bigger than the 235/70/16s that it's on currently.

I'm on 305/70/16s and they just just fit now:D
On full strech the back tyres just kiss the inner tub and on the front on full lock and flex they too kiss the bottom arm bracketry. So I've taken the angle grinder to some of the sticky out bits and put spacers on:thumbs
A lot depends on the wheel offset, but one things for sure 33s (305s) need the body getting a right royal bashing to let them fit.
35s will need body cutting or a body lift:sly

Some of it depends on wheel offset and I think the standard wheels aren't that great.

I have some alloys which are probably (not certain) from a Shogun or similar and they stick out a tad more than the standard wheels do - with 31x10.5x15 AT2s I have no problem with rubbing against any undercarriage components (which would be a function of tyre width and offset), just a slight rubbing occasionally on the rear inner of the front wheelarch where we know there is a folded seam that just needs bending over a tad using adaptive percussive engineering techniques :augie
