Hi Guy's,
I just got a lwb Y60 Auto, I took it to the Robinhood's Bay Pay n Play last weekend and was well Impressed with the partol, as this was my first attempt at offroading I took things easy nearly got stuck a couple of times.
I think new boots are in order as the rears are leagal(Just) and fronts are Dunlop grand trek's.
These are 265 70 16's on standard rims. What will fit under the arches even with the axels at silly angles. i have spotted some 315 75 16's Hankook MT RT03's for about £100 each I Reckon that that is about 2 in increase in Radius.

Any experiance with bigger tyres on standard rims..

Thanks

Your gaining more width than hieght with that size ?
Be better to go 31 / 32 or 33x12.50R16 imo . . . . .

Thanks for that!!
Still a bit confused
12.5 i assume is the width of the tread so 12.5*25.4mm = 317.5mm so a 315mm wide tyre!!
31,2 or 33 would be the overall height of the tyre eg 33*25.4mm = 838mm

A 315 75 16 is :- 16 x 25.2 = 406mm - for the rim
plus 2 x 75% of 315mm = 2*236mm =472mm - for the height of the tyre

406 + 472 = 878mm or 34.5inch Tall.

Sorry for the sums but thats me n tyres!!!

Anyway do you know what is the tallest or widest tyres that will fit without interference?
in your experiance Is height better than width? Looks are quite important but don't get you up the muddy hill!

Sorry if I came across as ....?.... but need to get some tyres sorted for the next muddy venture.

Thanks again for the reply

Thanks, thats a very usefull tool ( and proves my numbers to within a fraction of a mm )

But Still I need help fron you guy's!!!

It still don't tell me what will fit on the standard wheels and not foul Body, arches or suspension!!

Truck is Standard at the moment.
but getting full lenght roof rack fitted at the weekend.

Thanks again

hi fellow troller,

think last thread mentioned atleast on y61 that could go to 32", maybe 33 at a push
thinks thats what the ozzies are saying.

reckon mudders will be taller by virtue of upto around 22mm depth of tread.

recently added 2 more new maxxis ht 760s to mine to keep costs down not bad as
road tyres go as suspension and rear locker 'fill' gaps in performance. my next choice
would be general at2s as had on terrano. quite fancy kumho lk71s but not in our
size so would have to change to a minimum of 265/75 on 16s. think these equate to
about 31.

as truck is allrounder wary of increasing rolling radius too much in case affects tugging
ability, oh and insurance of course.

with in archs i would try to keep to as close as original width and then increase profile
height. there are metric tyres on market with 85 ratios.

Thanks I think I'm getting somwhere now...!

Stanard 265 70 16's are about 30.5"
265 75 16's are about 31.5"
275 75 16's are about 32" and seem a pretty common size so should keep price down
285 75 16's and 305 70 16's are 32.8" so 33" and can be cheaper than most of the above.

So decision time, I think much as i want the big 305 70's ( after the taller springs i think ), it will be the 275 75 16's as this will give an extra 3/4" lift and a bit wider tyre.

Thanks for the Info.

just getting used to the site but looking good sofa!!
