Made this bracket up today to fit my new 110ah battery.

Went very well, Without any snags. Furthest nut is attached to a hooked rod . Bumper side I used existing threads and some threaded rod I had which was the same size.

That'll fix the blighter :D Although the angle iron at the back is a bit on the long side, so mind your spanners

I would get a plastic junction box fit it over the +ve terminal, fit the cables then clip on the lid.
There are too many exposed positive areas to short on, either the bonnet prop or as makeitfit says, even a simple spanner or even a metal watch strap....

Drop the dip stick and that's it.....

Looking at the clamp, you could always use it as a recovery point....:lol :lol

ahh It will be fine

I was going to look at a junction box or something similar.

110 amp ,why that big for :nenau iv only a 65 amp on mine and its a 3.0 ,,pas pump is a bit close two or is it the way the picture is taken

Plenty of reserve for the winch :D
The Numax is as big as will fit (physically) and has 1000 cold cranking amps :naughty which I find kind of helpfull in the depths of winter

I also have a 40ah one on the other side.

chose the 110ah as I have ordered a winch, also I usually run radio equipment when the engine off so always good to have more than needed.

Thats how I roll. The welsh do it properly.

no way will I be running a winch on my start battery, I will have a separate one for the winch, Rick

But it's always good practice to use the winch when the engine is running, So either way you will be drawing power from your start battery. Unless you physically disconnect it from the 2nd, which would cause even more trouble.

why the post clamp terminals when you can bolt the lugs on to the terminals and do away with a connection?????? and use the round posts for jump lead connection!

Thats where the winch will connect to. But I might connect one of the other smallers wires to it aswell. :banghead

winch + own battery is a better way, then you can still run engine and winch but start battery will not be used, this is the stuff I learn t on boats, accidentally stuff your start battery and you are dead in the water, Rick

yes but if your engine is running you give the winch more amps. May be different for boats but im driving a 4x4 ;)

I ran out of places to put a second battery so went down the 110 amp route instead.LPG evaporator at the front and air intake at the back of the engine bay. I've got another alternator to fit soon too at 90 amps it should shorten recharge times too:D
I've only done recovery winching with the engine running though;)
Experimented a few weeks back as I took down a friends fir trees with the engine off. All started up ok:thumbs

no you have missed the point, 2nd battery engine running = the same but if your engine stops/drowns then you can flatten the 2nd battery getting you out and when on dry land will have fully charged start battery to do just that, Rick

yes thats true, but I don't think i'd like the extra weight of a 2nd big battery with this winch and bumper.

everyone's situation is different

2nd battery weight, irrelevant, and I will carry a spare fully charged battery as well, Rick

neat job mate :thumb2
I have a big battery too, but only because it was free :augie
