Big blue patrol needs help.

Hi everyone, finally got round to joining as I now own my old company 4x4 which used to site mobile homes and escort wideloads, so she's seen a lot of work over the years. Not all kind work either. All ways wanted to get into 4x4ing and mist out on a lot chances to do so. So super stoked to join the club. Most of my life is behind a daf truck steering wheel with a mobile home on the back which most of them are classed as wideloads and require a lot of concentration to get them where they have to go. Days away a nites out all week normally. So hence the need to get away from it all with my family 4x4ing a greenlaning and maybe a little bit of RTV Trailing. My first question to you all is: Is there anybody out there with a good solid Y61 short wheelbase Chassis, as I really need one. Welding the 1 I have isn't an option due to the level of corrosion and damage to it. Thought I'd chuck that 1 out there first as this is my starting point to get my project going. Welcome mate, do not know so much about the Y61, I am a newish Trol owner having had T2's for years, think you might struggle to find a chassis, Rick

Hi mate and welcome, sounds like a huge project There are loads of Patrol guys on here with loads of knowledge, but a chassis?, never seen one for sale but they must be out there!

If I remember correctly there is some kind of consortium of scrappies that you send your request to and if any of their members have what you want they get in touch, I have not used them since I sourced an Auto box for Briggie and details have been lost since then, Rick

Im afraid to say what you're asking is going to be difficult to achieve.
Its more likely you'll find a Y61 2.8 SWB vehicle rather than just a chassis on its own.
You can then use that one as a donor for any other parts as well.

SWB Trols are a rare occurence in either Y60 or Y61 form and I agree with Davey, possibly more likely to get a whole vehicle than a chassis on it's own but you should try this lad up in Forres

I have used Hooton 4x4 and there is another I use but has slipped my mind at the mo but I’ll dig it out, you might find a chassis there.

Thanks to everyone for your input. Have found a few longwheelbase y61s but the same horrible problem appears each time, Rust. There just as bad as mine. So what we've decided I think is to crack on with cutting up the original chassis and copy the cut out sections. I'm just waiting on my local nissan breaker for a mangled chassis that might do for donar sections. Have got spares of all most everything else just not a suitable chassis. Just have to knuckle down and cut a grind until it's done. Wish me luck. Will post some pics soon.

If you know of a decent local fabricator they might be able to replicate what you need from a suitable box section.
Did it many years ago on my MK 1 shogun.
Cut out the rotted section,took it to work and they made me two complete rear sections.
