Picked this up in a job lot of offroad/4x4 stuff, It's a beast. Manual says it pulls 235a on a 2500w load. :lol

Thats massive was looking for one around 1000 watts for grinders etc.Only thing is how long will your battery last when you plug that one in:nenau

depends on what load you put on it I suppose. Probably has the same deficiency as a 1kw one. Going to test it in a bit to make sure it works before I sell it. :lol

These are used extensively on narrow boats, and Norfolk Broads cruisers, they are capable of running a washing machine, micro wave, hair dryer, or even a phone charger, so fine for power tools.

But at anything over 800 watts load, you would need a bank of batteries, probably 3x 110ah leisure batteries, otherwise they will cut out due to low voltage on the battery supply.
Even then, most users would probably run their engine too.

OK its a third the loading but good price, only 220V though

cheap but you get what you pay for,do not expect it to last long, I have run on inverters for ten years, my ones cost £2000 a time and had three (two under warranty thank goodness) but they are not the most reliable bits of kit, Rick

needs to be said that I have a half ton of forklift truck type batteries, true deep cycle, and often draw 250 amps at one time for short periods at 24 volt, but also has to be said as I have before it is the fridge that takes the most, even more than the washing machine, Rick

Some loads are just not suitable for inverters, my wife has two sets of curling tongs, and we were in a rush once, so I used the small 12 volt to 150 watt inverter, the tongs were only 40 watts, but one set worked fine, but when we tried the other one, it blew one of the output transistors, even though they were the same power. They both worked on mains though.

One must have been simple technology, resistive load, 240 volts, the other was 110 - 240 Volts, so had additional circuitry, possible switch mode, which the inverter didn't like. Fortunately when I opened up the inverter, I was able to check both output transistors, and one had blown, so only 60p to repair:doh phew...,

So if using an inverter, check your load, some peak current pulses can exceed the inverter output and destroy it:doh
