... coming from the South West.

I am planning a holiday with the caravan near Buxton in September and the RAC route planner says I should take the A500 then A53, after the M5 then M6 etc.

Is this a good road and what are the gradients like. I ask because I have just read that Buxton is the highest town in England.

Any advice/tips would be appreciated.

Thanks

Alan

have you tried google maps ??

depends where abouts you are comming from i used to travel from cornwall (sw) to manchester alot and i never used the a500 or a53 (belive these to be in stoke area according to google), i would travel via a30 to m5 to m6 to m6 only noticeable gradients are arround cornwall, devon and the midlands

Hi i live in the potterys and find the leek to buxton road a53 the best it is a slow incline but not that bad .I find the other routes are very narrow and windyhope this helps.
