Neither - it's gear driven, so nothing to snap/stretch :)

Mine also?

Does this go for my Terrano 2 tdi se touring lwb 1998? If so happy days. :clap
If not :doh

all the 2.7s have the same basic block and bits - timing driven by a gear straight off the end of the crankshaft.....same engine used in older London taxis doing interplanetary mileage....

Belt/chain/gear on 3ltr?

So what camshaft drive is fitted to the latest, pre-Pathfinder, 3ltr diesel T2? Is it gears like the 2.7 T2 or chain/belt?

Regards CL

Unlike the newer ones which use a Ford lump that's also used in the new Defender and is no end of trouble apparently

& the new TX3 Taxis which also use ford lump & they to spend more time in the garage than on the road :doh

I think its a chain arrangment if memory serves me right Capt, but eBay will tell you!

Gear / Chain / belt

Many thanks to Lacroupade and Terranosaurus for the info on the 3ltr T2 camshaft drive. And extra thanks to Terrannosaurus for the graphics, (is there a link to a download please?).

I'm happy with the gears on my T2 2.7 and if I move to a 3ltr, I'm almost as happy with a chain. I would not have been so content with a belt.

Lacroupade - I note your disgust at the price charged for petrol on the autoroute in France, (Je suis d'accord). But that is similar to the excessive charges at UK services stations on the motorways - they have a captive audience!

Hope the grass wasn't too long at the French residence! Sorry you couldn't stop-over with us en-route, perhaps next time?

Regards CL

P.S. Terranosaurus - found the site at nissan4u.com - thanks for the clue. Rgds CL

It was atrocious - a years worth but fortunately it seems you've had another really dry year over there, so it could have been worse. My trusty Alko scythe mower made short work of it, well not that short I suppose, two days to cut, rake, stack and burn it all :-(
