80-90 Ah (ampere hours) is the norm for a heavy duty battery on this truck....mine is 95Ah.

Batteries carry 2 rating

Capacity in Ahr
Cranking ability - in CCA or MCA which are 2 different ways of measuringthe same thing, Marine/Cold Cranking Amps and is how many amps can be drawn for 30s without the voltage dropping below 10.2 (IIRC) volts. MCA is at 0 degress C, CCA is at 0 Degrees F.

If you are looking for a good battery you won't go wrong with Numax CXV27-MF these are about the biggest physically you'll get in a T2/Mav and the spec is great too. They are a Marine/semi traction battery which means they have the best properties of leisure and starung batteries, so good capacity and resilience to being fully discharged and great cranking power too. I've got a pair under my bonnet.

terra, i thought leisure batteries were'nt recommended for vehicle use, i must admit i like the sound of them, might buy one for the caravan. :thumb2

The Numax CXV range, are not a true leisure battery in the old sense, these Numax are semi traction and designed for both. They are being used on caravans now because true leisure batteries aren't very good with motor movers as they, like a starter motors, are just an electric motor. They are becoming one of the batteries to use for all sorts of 4x4 stuff, at less than half half the price of the alternative Red tops etc and twice the capacity, though they don't have quite the wallop but unless you're doing serious winch challenge thats not an issue.

I use a great big trade battery warehouse near me and just went in and told the guy what I wanted. ie big capacity, high output for starting and winching and the resilience to put up with being run completey flat at times and this is what he suggested, that was over a year ago, I bought a second one in Feb for mac challenge.

The 2nd battery tray is from me £28 for tray and clamp, with all stainless steel hardware - not had chance to promote them etc with whats been going on at home etc

Um got a pic boss?

Only with a battery in it - need to take mine off and paint it sometime. I've got one ready prepped to fit to a friends who's is going to be the model I photo for how to fit as I go.

Will try to take one tonight/tomorrow of the tray inplace etc.

Hiya Terranosaurus, Can I be cheeky  and ask, how much did you pay for your Numax Battery, Ive just had mine tested an its finally given up and gone to the battery scrapyard in the sky. :surrender Went to HALFORDS and they wanted £98.99 for one of their own brand. :eek

The first one I bought cost me £70 all in and the second £57 but I think that might have been a mistake. Lead prices are up at the moment but Halfauds is never a good place to buy anything. Check your local yellow pages for a battery supplier and buy direct. Tanya who you linked to sell the numax CXV too.

Just to point out anyone after a second battery and you have AC check that you have the room for a larger second battery. When I've looked at mine the AC pipes will get in the way of the second battery if it's the same as my main battery.

Anyway we are going off topic slightly.
