hi all, my sons terrano battery will not hold its charge, altinator showing good power,am thinking draing thru starter, sorry forgot to add he went off roading init you can go jump it off starts fine go for a good run leave it few hours battery discharges any info would be grateful cheers paul

Try disconnecting the battery overnight straight after a good run to see if its a poor battery (won't start in the morning) or a drain from the battery (will start in the morning).

When you say the alternator is showing good power - please explain.

hi put a tester and its showing just over 14volts charging if this is of any help cheers

make sure lights are going out on timer.. ive one door ( back) that some times sticks

It wont drain through the starter.

With that degree of discharge (you mention afew hours) i would put money on the diode pack in the alternator being f**ked.

Is the body of the alternator warm to the touch after being stood for abit?

If so....bingo.
